About Seminars

In recent years, the number of students enrolled in Chinese language programs (including native speakers, 1.5 speakers, and bilingual or b/multilingual speakers) in various schools (including schools for children of expatriates, international schools, and privately-run bilingual schools) has been on the rise. In the face of different socio-cultural environments and student groups, Chinese language teachers have explored various aspects of internationalization and localization of the Chinese language curriculum. How international language education can absorb local elements and at the same time innovate to cultivate future talents with international perspectives has become a common concern and topic of discussion among Chinese language educators.

Against this background, the University of Hong Kong, Kaohsiung Normal University, East China Normal University, Yishou University, National Taiwan Normal University, City University of Macau, Changshu United World College, Yida International Senior High School, and Macao College of Education have decided to jointly organize the “11th International School Chinese Language Education (ISCLE) Conference and Workshop” on November 22-24, 2024 at City University of Macau and Kao Yip Middle School.

The conference is organized by the City University of Macau and Kao Yip Middle School, with the theme of “The Future of Language Education: Chinese as a Global Language”,. The conference  aims to promote the research and practice of various types of Chinese language teaching and learning (including, but not limited to, immersion, bilingualism, multilingualism, second language teaching and mother tongue teaching) in the context of internationalized education. The conference will provide a rich and colorful platform for Chinese language teachers to share and exchange academic achievements related to Chinese language education.
